TexasBank is proud to announce the awarding of more than $150,000 in scholarships to 80 graduating high school seniors and college students across Texas through the Doss Legacy Scholarship: A TexasBank Community Award.

The scholarship program, established in partnership with the James and Dorothy Doss Foundation, reflects TexasBank’s long-standing commitment to investing in education and strengthening the communities it serves. Since its inception in 2013, the Doss Legacy Scholarship has awarded more than $2.9 million to students pursuing higher education throughout TexasBank's service areas.

In 2026, scholarship funding was distributed across high schools, colleges, and universities throughout North Texas, Central Texas, and West Texas, including annual commitments to:

  • Weatherford College – $25,000
  • Tarleton State University – $25,000
  • Howard Payne University – $25,000
  • Texas State Technical College – $5,000
  • Communities In Schools – $5,000

In addition to supporting higher education institutions, scholarship funding was awarded to students from dozens of school districts across Parker, Brown, Comanche, Erath, Eastland, Mills, Wise, and surrounding counties.

“At TexasBank, we believe one of the most meaningful investments we can make is in the future of our communities,” said Greg Dodds, President and CEO of TexasBank. “These scholarships help remove barriers to education and create opportunities for students to pursue their goals. We are honored to continue the legacy established by James and Dorothy Doss and support the next generation of leaders.”

Unlike many scholarship programs, TexasBank does not select individual recipients. Scholarship funds are awarded directly to participating schools, colleges, and educational organizations, which then select recipients based on criteria such as academic achievement, leadership, community involvement, and future aspirations.

This community-based approach allows local educators and administrators—those who know their students best—to identify deserving recipients and ensure scholarship dollars have the greatest impact.

“Every market we serve has talented young people with extraordinary potential,” said Lin Bearden, TexasBank Parker County President and Chief Lending Officer. “By partnering with schools and community organizations, we can help students take the next step toward achieving their dreams while strengthening the communities we call home.”

Scholarship recipients this year represented school districts throughout TexasBank's footprint, including Aledo, Bangs, Blanket, Brock, Brookesmith, Brownwood, Comanche, Decatur, De Leon, Dublin, Early, Eastland, Goldthwaite, Gustine, Huckabay, Lingleville, May, Millsap, Peaster, Poolville, Sidney, Springtown, Stephenville, Weatherford, Zephyr, and many others.

TexasBank hosted scholarship receptions throughout its markets this spring to recognize recipients and celebrate their achievements alongside family members, educators, and community leaders.

The Doss Legacy Scholarship is just one part of TexasBank’s broader commitment to community investment. In addition to scholarships, TexasBank contributes more than $1 million dollars annually to nonprofit organizations and community initiatives across Texas, with a focus on education, healthcare, community development, and financial literacy.
