TexasBank Awards $7,000 in Scholarships to Comanche County Seniors, part of $140,000 Given to Students Across Central Texas and DFW.
Comanche, TX (May 7, 2025) - TexasBank is proud to announce the recipients of its 2025 James and Dorothy Doss Foundation Scholarships in Comanche County, awarding $7,000 to seven graduating seniors pursuing higher education.
The scholarships are part of a larger initiative that distributes $145,000 to students across Central Texas and the DFW region, including significant contributions to local high schools and colleges such as Howard Payne University ($25,000), Tarleton State University ($25,000), and Texas State Technical College ($5,000).
“Helping local students take their next step is one of the most rewarding things we do,” said Juvenal Sierra, Market President for Comanche County. “I’m incredibly grateful to our ownership and board for their ongoing investment in the future of our communities.”
Unlike many traditional programs, TexasBank and the Doss Foundation do not select scholarship recipients. Instead, funds are awarded directly to local schools, which appoint their own committees to choose recipients based on academic achievement, community involvement, and future goals.
In Comanche County, students from Comanche, De Leon, Gustine, and Sidney High Schools were honored. A scholarship reception was held on May 7 at the TexasBank Comanche branch, where students and their families celebrated with bank leadership and received certificates of recognition.
TexasBank’s commitment to education runs deep: over $2.7 million in scholarships have been awarded through the Doss Foundation since the program’s inception 14 years ago.
Beyond scholarships, TexasBank contributes more than $650,000 annually to nonprofit organizations throughout Texas, supporting causes in education, healthcare, community development, and financial literacy.
