“We believe investing in students is one of the best ways to invest in our community’s future. We’re proud to help them take the next step in their education journey.”
- Greg Dodds, TexasBank CEO
TexasBank is proud to announce that more than $145,000 in scholarships have been awarded this year to 80 high school seniors and college students across Texas, part of the bank’s ongoing commitment to support education and empower the next generation of leaders. Parker County schools, including Weatherford College, were awarded $48,000 to 37 local students.
This year’s contribution continues with a long-standing partnership with the James and Dorothy Doss Foundation and brings TexasBank’s total scholarship giving to over $2.1 million over the past 14 years.
“We believe investing in students is one of the best ways to invest in our community’s future,” said Greg Dodds, President and CEO of TexasBank. “These young people are the future of Parker County and beyond. We’re proud to help them take the next step in their education journey.”
In recent years, TexasBank’s scholarship model has expanded. Originally focused on Weatherford High School dual credit students attending Weatherford College, the program now includes students from multiple school districts, as well as a standing $25,000 annual commitment to Weatherford College.
“The heart of this program is local decision-making,” said Lin Bearden, TexasBank Parker County President and Chief Lending Officer. “Each participating school knows their students best. We provide the funds, and they select recipients based on academics, community service, and future goals.”
This year, scholarship funding was awarded to students from Aledo, Brock, Millsap, Peaster, Poolville, Springtown, and Weatherford school districts, in addition to Weatherford College. A celebratory reception was held May 12 at TexasBank in Weatherford to honor recipients and their families. Students who were able to attend the reception are named below:
